The Ledbury (4/5)

The Ledbury is located in Notting Hill, perhaps London’s liveliest area. The fact that it was opened by Australian-born chef Brett Graham when he was 25-years-old speaks volumes about his talents, as does the prestigious Josephine Pignolet Award he won before being named the Restaurant Association’s “Young Chef of the Year” in 2002.

The restaurant has attained a Certificate of Excellence and a 4.5–5.0 rating from TripAdvisor and placed 14th on the Restaurant Magazine “World’s 50 Best Restaurants” list, as well as ranking high on other fine restaurant listings. The menus at the Ledbury are based on British fare and make the most of wild game and vegetables. A typical menu may consist of:

  • First Course: Candy Beetroot, English Caviar, Smoked and Dried Eel
  • Second Course: Grilled Cuttlefish, Garlic, and Cracked Wheat
  • Third Course: Jowl of Pork, Carrot and Gooseberry Juice, Girolles, and Crackling
  • Fourth Course: Roasted Quince Ice Cream, Chestnut Sponge, Whisky, and Honey

The Ledbury has perhaps one of the best-stocked wine cellars in London, with a broad range of selections to choose from. You can get anything from a glass of 2014 Trebbiano d’Abruzzo (Tiberio) for just £6, to a bottle of 1999 Montrachet Grand Cru (Domaine de la Romanée-Conti) for £4,500.

Reservations for this world-class restaurant are usually accepted up to two months in advance.
